The first was that of Robert Johnson (colored), who was charged with improper eonduct in refusing to leave the Thee* tre when ordered, and using abusive language to a policeman. From the testimony, it was shown that the negro had gone to the Theatre with an umbrella for the white persons by whom he was employed, and while there some other negroes had caused a disturb* ance and then ran, and he being in the crowd was ar rested os one of the party. The case was dismissed, with costs of court! upon the prisoner. Sam Snipe (colored), who has just served out a con siderable period in the Chatham county jail, was ar rested on the change of vagrancy. Sam said, in reply to an inquiry by His Honor, the Mayor, that he came to Savannah since he was let ont of jail, for the pur pose of hunting for work, and when arrested by the policeman he was standing in the porch of a bar-room waiting for Something to do, but he did not intend to steal anything. Sam was given the benefit of his statement and sent to the Brrracks for one week. Monahan’s.—The name itself is suggestive of oys ters and ale. Fer m^ny years that has been tfip place to go to, and from present indications the old prestige is likely to be sustained. Mr. Monahan has been busily employed for the last two weeks in re-painting and fitting up the old stands by, on Whitaker street, just above Bay, and now in vite a a call from his former customers, and all who can appreciate a good dish of oysters and the best qual- ity of fixtures.
