Cavalier, thinking that all was right, accompa nied Baring to the bank. On reaching there it was discovered to Baring's great surprise that the bafik would not be open foe hajf an hour, he therefore asked Cavalier to wait there a few moments until be attended to some business, and promising to return in a fear minutes.' Cavalier accordingly waited until he got out of patience, and smelt a rat and left. Determined not to be euchred in that manner. Cava lier kept a sharp lopkout for bu customer, and yester. day morning, on observing him on the Streets after the transaction, he procured tha services of Consta ble Jones and bad him taken into custody.
