Cotton.—The market is very unsettled, and not withstanding holders are anxious to sell* buyers seem unwilling to operate, even at the concessions made by holders. New York middlings were oflartng freely, to-day, at 36c., without finding purchasers. We heard of one small sale of Savannah middlings, at J6c., which about comprised the dsy’s transactions. Augusta Market. Augusta, October 17—P. M. Cotton.—The market is quiet, but firm. The sales lo-day are 202 bales—24 at 3t>c.; 67 at 38c.; 29 at 37Me. _ 77 at 38c.: and 5 bales of zipporaU at 45o. The re ceipts are 673 bales. Augusta Fac^rt Goods—7-8 shirting, 19c.; 44 sheeting, 22c.; 7-8 drill, 23c. In good demand. Macon Cotton Market. Macon, October 18. Cotton.—There was little or no demand for ootton to-day, and none was sold at over 32>£a, and that lor the better grades of cotton, there being no inquiry for the inferior descriptions. The uoon dispatches did not give an impetus to the demand; indeed, they may be said to have effectually checked sales, and the mar ket closed dull at 32c. lor good middling, which is the best cotton we receive iu t..is market. Atlanta Market. Atlanta, October 18. We give below the prices of a few leading articles of merchandise. The corn market is particularly stiff, and the’demand has been such that mixed has ad vanced a few cents. White remains the same, for which the demand is not so great: WHOLESALE FRIGES. Coen.—White corn, $1 35; mixed or yellow, $1 S3. Baoon.—Shoulders (scarce), 20c.; plain canvassed hams, 24@2oc.; sugar-cured hams, 26)*@27c.; dear ribbed sides, 23c.: clear sides, 23>£@24c. Columbus Cotton Market. Columbus, October 17. Cotton.—Our market was pretty active yesterday, and the advance was stiffly maintained. The highest price we could hear of was 33,H'c. for a superior article. For middlings tho quotation 32<$33c. would be about correct. There was a good show of cotton wsgons on the streets, and trade generally seemed to be briek. The effect of the favorable news from Liverpool received yesterday and published this morning, is not yet seen on our market. The above quotations arc clear of the lax, which is paid by the purchasers. m Fal1 D| 7 me TO COUNTRY MERCHANTS.
