The Baltimore Gazette wishes the Presi dent to repudiate Congress by “ deoided mea sures.” It sees no cause for thankfulness that the programme put forth by the Philadelphia Ledger has been repudiated by the President. Mr. Johnson, it says, ‘‘must either act boldly or submit timidly." To act boldly is regarded as “perfectly justifiable,” although^ & anight possibly lead to civil dissensions, —The New York Journal ef Commerce thinks that till violence, coarseness and vul garity in society is not confined to the South, and invites' Northern people to look around them, and see how the war has scattered bad' habits and violent manners, particularly among the young men! —A number of ministers of the Ohio Con ference of the Methodist Protestant Church recently held a meeting in 9abini, and re solved* after earnest discussion, that they would decline taking appointments the ensu ing year, unless they were assured a salary of at least $1,000.
