The Fenians.—Aa envoy arrived at Mr.
Stephens' headquarters, in New York, on
Wednesday, from England, who reports an
immense increase in the organization in that
country, and likewise in Scotland and Ire
land. The report created much enthusiasm,
and the Stephens’ men are now, it is said,
anxiously waiting the command of their
leader to commence the revolution in Ire
land. It is reported also that the breach be
tween the Roberts’ and Stephens’ organiza
tions is soon to be healed, and both parties
make their watchword “On toOuld Ire
land !” The Fenian Sisterhood, it is report
ed, have abandoned the idea oi holding the
fair for the benefit of the wives and families
oi Irish State prisoners on account of the
great expense of hiring a hall for that pur
pose, $1,200 beiog required. It has been
decided to sell, the articles at headquarters at
once and send the proceeds to Ireland. Bu
siness Is very animated at Mr. Roberts’ head
quarters, aud anxious inquiries are made as
to wbat course Mr. Roberts is about to pur
sue in regard to the sentence to death of Fe
nians by the Canadian authorities. Mr. Ro
berts is expected to issue an address op. t,he

Dc-ath of Senator Wright, or New
Jbssst — Senator Wright, who died at New
ark New Jersey, a few days since, was al
ways a whi m and consistent friend of the
Southern people. He opposed the war and
was an active and influential supporter of
the restoration policy of the President.
Ia 1843, Mr. Wright entered political life
and was chosen to Congress, beating the regu
lar Whig candidate by a handsome majority.
He was re-elected in 1845. He was a candi

were removed, and their loss, it is said, will be light.
The up stairs, we team, waa occupied by live dif

great peril by the aid of a ladder furnished by the
Hook and Ladder Company. Of course they lost ev»
erything, even the clothing they had worn ou the
previous evening.

To ocr Savannah Merchants.—We sug
gest to onr friends in Savannah the propriety
of depositing with Major R. R. Terrell, the
Assessor of Internal Revenue Tax, a sufficient
amount ot money to pay the tax on all cotton
consigned to them. We are assured that
be will receive it and obtain the permits, and
forward them, with the planter’s receipt. for
the advance, to whomsoever the cotton may
be consigned. This Major Terrell is willing
to do for the accommodation of the people of
this county. It wonld be a simple and easv
