Loeses roa Octobe*.—The losses of vessels hy wreck, fire, collision, Ac., du ring tbe mouth of October just closed, was heavier than during any preceding mouth of .the year. There were eighty-two vessels lost, and their aggregate value was 95,618,000. Thus far during 1666 the marine losses of ^American shipping have amounted to 471 vessel*, valued at $25,195,800, a larger amount than during the corresponding pe riod of any previous year.' During the first ten months of 1865 tbe marine, losses were 928,385,800, and during the first ten* months of 1864 *faty were *16,488.400. It is claimed that when fifty .mile* of incompleted railway in Iowa are finish Chicago will have an air-railway line extend ing toward* the base of the Rocky Mountains for 800 miles. The Fecifiic railway thus re ferred to traverses Nebraska. Another party of excursionists recently left Philadelphia to examine the Phciflc railway line stretch ing westward from St Louis through Mis souri to Kansas City, and thence along the Smoky Hill ronte through Kansas to Colo* rado. It is being built as rapidly as its Northern rivnl, and already stretches be yond Fort Riley, from whence it is to be ex tended nearly three hundred miles daring tbe coming year. ■ ■■■’■Mi' ■■ " ■ — — Genual Banks and His Aoqpsraa.—The press of Massachusetts are still discussing with animation the grave question whether or not General Banks was inebriated on a certain occasion in Portland, as charged by a Mr. Copeland.
