The principal character, Robert Brierly. wae«wioat effectively personated by Mr. Harry Langdon, who was well sustained by Mr. Dow as Hawkshaw, Mr. Lowry as Jim Dslton^md Mr. BensOn as Mel ter Moss. Indeed, all the subordinate parts were wall sustained. Miss Annie Senter exhibited great versatility in her admirable personation of the rollicking youth, Sam Willoughby. Mias Stell) Mason won all hearts, by her touching personation of character and sweet vocalisa tion, as Mary Edwards, the street singer. This young lady is already a most decided favorite. The perfect naturalness of her style, graceful movement, sweet voice and charming person, leave her little to ac complish by histrionic effort in winning for herself a high position in the profession. The sprightly little musical farce of the bwiss Cot tage, in which Miss Masou appeared to great advan tage, was received with raptures of applause. To-night will be presented the popular protean drama of Satan in Paris, with the musical burletta o* Jenny Lind. George Fraser, Son A Co.’s Monthly Prices Curient] Manchester. Nov. 1. Our market continued dull, aud prices to droop from the 1st to the Cth ult. w hen more tuuewaa given to prices by renewed activity in the Liverpool cotton market, where a very large daily business was done from that date to the 17th ult., during which aa actual advance was established of Id. to l%d. per lb., making the total advance from the lowest point in {September about 2 J*d. per lb. The efteci of this exciteinout in cotton was natuially to co npel spinnere and manu facturers to advance their quotations for yarns and goods, which they did aceoidingly, but with very un equal success; even in the very effort they were ever behind hand in time as well as more moderate in their aims at higher prices. But for a ume they succeeded m placing yarns nominally higher by Id. to 1 J£d. per lb., and ^printers, 25 yards, and India shirtiuga by 3d. per piece. To a moderaete extent the advance was paid upon yarns, and more especially upon cop yarns lor home consumption. But rapidly the extent oi transactions was being curtailed even in yarns, whilst a:l along buyers generally held aloof from the goods market, and the main result of the movement was to further accumulate stocks in first hands. There was no real improvement, but simply a nominal one, rest ing on the very uncertain baais of a speculative advance in cotton. Accordingly, when beaten back by the inertness of our market, and by the more favorable crop estimates from America, on the im provement. of the weather and tne uou-occurrence of frost, coiton gave way, oiu* market, which could not respond to the advance, at once reciprocated the de cline, but mucii losier and more extensively than did the raw material. Tne *esu>t of the fluctuation for the month is, that uhdsi the p.’ice of American and Brazil cotton rema ns the came about as this day month, and Dhollera :h >*d. per lb. dearer; Egyptian only, which was rei .tiveiy very dt ar, being quoted a^d. per lb. lower, there has o ;en a dcchne here of >iu. to lc. per lb. on ydi ns; of tfd. a pieco on % printers, 29 yards of C.1 to 4‘id. and up to 6d. per piece of the various* qualities ol inadapoilams, 94 yards; of 4>£il. to Gt. per piece on 9-8 printers, 25 yards; of 6d. »o9d. per piece on 5% lb to 7 lb., 3i-iuch shirting*, and :ull> yd. per p « co on 834 ib -» U P to ls‘per piece on the wider and heavier descriptions, of 9d. per niece on figured shirtings, oi 3d. per piece ou jaconet^ of 1&*1. to 3d. per piece on mulls. T cloths and long cloths romiiinirg without much change, aud of >»d. to .^d. per yard on domestics of the heavier weights. To this may be added a state of our market, in which it Is most difficult to effect It wili be gathered that the position of the “trade” ha-* been changed materially tor tn^ worse during the mouth just ended. The Professor selected lor me a pair of bis Australian Crystal Glaase* which are of a very superior quality aud workmanship, rendering vision very distinct, and editing my eyes better than any I have ever tried.
