Cotton.—There was bnt little doing in the cotton market yesterday, holders being stiff in their views, white buyers asked a decline. We heard of but tew i at 32c. for New York middlings, while 35 li to 33c. was asked. EMIGRATION TO BRAZIL Free Passage to Emigrants to Brazil by the United States & Brazil Mail Steam ship Company, ON THK 2ild OF EACH MON TH. T HE Imperial Government looks with sympathy and interest un American Emigration to Brasil, and is resolved to give the moat favorable welcome. Emigrauis will find au abundance of fertile land, suit able for the culture of cotton, sugar cane, coffee, to bacco, rice, etc. These lauds are situated in the Pro vinces of San Pedro, Santa Catbarina, Parana 8an Paolo, Eepirito Santo, Bio de Janeiro, etc., and each emigrant may select hie own lands. As soon as the emigrant baa chosen his land it will be measured by the Government, and possession given. Unoccupied lauds of the nation will be sold at the rate of 23, 46, 70 and 90 cents per acre (dollar equal to 1800: reis) payment to ba in five yearly instal ments, to commence one year after possession. Government will pay all expenses for measure, transportation to homestead, and free lodgiugs at port of arrival, until their departure for settlement. The laws iu force grant many favors to emigrants, such as exemption from import duties on all objects of personal use, implements of trade, and agricultural implements and machinery. Emigrants will enjoy under the Constitution of the Empire, all civil rights and liberties wlych be ong to native Brazilians. They will enjoy liberty of conscience in religious matters. Emigrants may become naturalized citizens after two years' residence iu the Empire, aud will be exempt from all military duties except the National Guard (militia iu the Municipality). No slaves can be imported into Brazil from any country whatever. No colored people permitted as emigrants. Emigration of agriculturalists aud mechanics is the most desired in the Empire. Good engineers are iu demand iu the Empire. Some rmiifoads are in couise of construction, aud others in project, besides many roads to build and rivers to navigate. The Government is in need of no persons for the army or navy. » CONTRACT OF EMIGRANT GOING TO BRAZIL. The emigrant, in consideration of the undertaking of the Brazil Emigration Agency, hereby agrees to sail for Brazil, as emigrant, with his family or other wise, upon the following conditions, which be binds himself to abide by faithfully:^* 1st.—To purchase lsnd for cultivation or grazing on the terms specified above. These lands will be mort gaged to the Impelial Government of Brazil, as a guarantee for the advances made by that Government for transportation, which will be the sum of Fifty Dol lars in Gold, Children half-price, from New York; Sixty-two Dollars in Gold irom New Orleans, and Fifty- seven Dollars in Gold, from any other port in the United States. 2d. To give satisfactory security for his debt to the Government iu case he should prefer some other branch of labor than that of farming. Holders exhibit more desire to realize, though the bulk of the stock is still withheld for higher prices and a more settled market. A larger supply of poorer cottons are now offered, and command full prices. Receipts.—Ah a general rule at the various ports little difference is shown in the receipts. At the shipping points very little cottou is awailing transportation, and the stock of old cotton is nearly exhausted. This fact should be weighed in estima ting.
