Section 1. The Mayor and Aldermen of tbs city ol
Savannahs in i’onncii asMembled. do hereby ordain
that from ami after the pawing of this ordinance each
and every Butcher in the public Market of Savaunah
shall, oh one of the conditions of his carrying off’ t|»A,
trade of butchering auter into bond is the sum offtve
hundred dolhpii, payable'to the Mayor End AUlerineh
of the city of Savannah, with good security, to be ap
proved by the Mayor, conditioned that such butchers
will faithfully comply with alt the ordiuauces of the
city and the laws of the State, in refeience to tattle
and other animals for slaughter, offered for sale; and
on failure of any snch butcher to give such boud ami
security, the Clerk of the Market shall refuse permis
sion to butcher to carry on his trade ixi said Market;

person: Prcvided always, that nothing coutaiurd in
this ordinance shall be so construed as to take away
the right of the public court or the City Council to

Section 1. Tim Mayor and Aldermen ci tlie-CUf M
Savannuli, in Council assembled; do hereby ordain.
That on aud atter the first regular meetiug of Council
iu January next the work of the Scavengers De
partment shall be given out by contract, aud 'propo^
sals lor performing the same to be made and re
ceived as hereinafter specified : All bids must be
handed to the Clerk of Council before ten o’clock on
the morning of the day of the election, nolice of
which election shall be given two days previous to
the time at which such election shall take pkufe, aud
each bidder shall enclose with his bid the names of two
or more securities, who, with the |»er*op elected shall
bind themselves in a sum which simile xceedtlie amount
ot the bid for which he proposes per annum to do the
work by one thousand dollars, for the true and Jaitk-
tul performance of the duties ot Superintended:. The*
City Council shall, at its first regular meeting -in Jan
uary next, and al the first regular meeting in January
of every fifth year thereafter, select from those who
