It would be difficult to indicate tfca ■ouMiu the character in which the remarkable his- i,.^ic power uf Miss Thompson were displayed to the ;o i advantage. She carried the enthusiastic admin- UlU oI tho audience with her from the rising of the cjrum to its fall, eliciting continual raptures of ap. .^uietts well in the first act, as the heartless and fain .cm of tho boudoir, as in the after scenes of emo- i-u and passion, witli which the piece abounds, and thrilling scene of the death chamber, so true to jturo as to excite a feeling akin to awe in the be- jjer. The changes from heartless levity to deep didiou, from love and hope to despair and resigna- . touched every heart, and roused her audience to ; highest pitch of admiration. She was called be- •j s hiu curtain at the end of every act, save the tirtli.iu which she is absent from the stage when t drop falls. She was ably sustained by Mr. Hari y LiuJon as Arm and, who, as is always the case, waa . rough in his conception of the part, and truly ef- :*aveiii its personation. The piece was well pqt on it stage and well performed throughout. H.ss Thompson takes a benefit to-night, appearing ;ic character of Julia iu Knowles’ beautiful play 1 ic ••Hunchback/’ with Mr. Langdon aa Mas- L* Walter and a good cast of the other aiders.
