Driving Through Lanes. As wo stated yesterday, there exists an ordinance to prevent wagons driving through the lanes of the city. Yesterday morning several negroes, who were probably not familiar with the ordinance, were raigned before His Honor, Mayor Anderson, charged with that offence. His Honor stated for tho informa tion of wagoners that complaint had been made that the Street Commissioner could not keep the |anes proper condition from tho fact that they were used thoroughfares, and that hereafter he would visit with heavy tine every person brought before him on that charge. Soveu negroes were charged with that offence, most of whom claimed that they belonged to the country and were ignorant of the ordinance. The majority them were fined one dollar and costs of keep of animals. Two of them, belonging to the city and cognizant of the law, were fiued two dollars. Uur City Railway. The agreeable intelligence was received yesterday, by telegraph, that the Savannah, 8kidaway and Soa- board Railway bill had passed both branches of the Legislature, and will doubtless be approved by the Governor. The Savannah public will be glad to learn that enough subscriptions to this enterprise will be ceived forthwith to warrant the prosecution of the work immediately. We have been assured, also, that it will be put under contract at once, and be pushed forward vigorously and energetically.
