Bishop Elliott The telegraph brings us a painful announcement that Uishop Elliott died suddenly in Savannah, on the 21st Inst., ol heart disease. Thus fails a type of no bility—a Specimen of aterling manhood—a devoted and devout ambassador of Christ. The death of a score of men maybe announced, and yet produce no profound sensation ontalde their family circles ; but when such a man aa Bishop Elliott is a victim to the "fierce spiritof the glass and scythe,” the country mourns as one great family be reft of a parent. The loss of such a man creates e gap which is felt wherever hie influence end virtues are ltnown. Bishop Elliott was a native of Beaufort District, South Carolina. He came of the family of heroic Huguenots, who are celebrated the world over for their chivalric virtues and sterling adherence to whatever cause thev may espouse. He was a noble type of the Southern gentleman, dignified and manly iu demeanor, courteous at all times, and, when de fending the right, was as invincible as an armada. In person he was superlatively elegant. Taller by far than ordinary men, erect and graceful in his walk and gesture, he was the man who would have been pointed out in a multitude, as one who was born a leader among men. Nature stamped a seal upon hia forehead which could not be mistaken. It was her royal edict nominating him a ruler—a teacher of other men. No man bore the marks more evidently than he did. He was acknowledged by all aa a superior in intellect anil in moral and Cnristian virtues. He was a man whose opinion was. songht upon temporal as well as spiriting matters, and lew men felt that they hail a rjgiit to tfiff-r from him. As a high prelate of the church he was the good shepherd who led his flocks into the green pastures and. beside tiie still waters. His exeontive abilities eminently qualified him for the office which he held with such universal satisfaction to tho church. His youth—his early manhood and his riper years were consecrated to the service of his Great Master. The Bible was his law book, and-the rule by whioh he meted his daily action. He knew no motive, no in terest, and yielded to ho influence that was not sanc tioned by Die Word. In the discharge of his ecclesi astical, social ami political obligations, he was aa fear- Where other men would quail and cess of manufacture, see in our pamphlet. No gecrefa la Its MonuCaetnre. One hundred and fifty to two hundred pounds of Mapea’ Nitrogenlzed Saper-Pbo-iphate applied even after the cotton was nearly up, nearly doubled the crop. Cotton grown with Hnpea’ Swper-Phosphstr brought higher price per pound. Stood drought better than Peruvian. American, or any of the various guanos used in the vicinity. The cotton helil its bolls better. Caused no tiring or the cotton during drought. Cotton continued Its fruiting later. Tile last bolls aa large and abundant as at any previous stage of the crop. Produced a larger yield and heavier weight of col- ton and wheat than Peravian Guano. The yield of corn g> own with Mapea' Super-Piytsphate was nearly double that grown with other Super phosphates. Worms hardly touched the corn grown with Mapea’ Saper-Phosplfate, while one-third ol the corn grown with other Super phosphate* was eaten up.
