to vote, and that he has resided in said
county lor the ten days next preceding this
eitctiou. Or, if ho claims to vote on a cer
tificate ot registration in aDy other County of

tical person named in said certificate, and
to residence the same as above. On taking

question. Should he decline to take such

A Washington letter date d the 20th, to the
Cincinnati Commercial, says that the Su-
pr me Court, on Friday of last week, gave
leave to Judge B ack and others, counsel for
Governor Jenkius, to file a bill in chancery
iuihuname of the Slate of Georgia, for an
injunction against General Me-tde, General
G:ant and others. The following intnrest-
isig- aud curt proceedings look place ip the
court to day, regarding this bill :
Mr. Black said : “If the Court please, in
th. Cube of Georgia vs. General Grant aod
nihors, the bill having been filed for an in
junction, according to the prayer of the bill,

sented in Congress should cast their eleeto**

will be 316, of which 159 will be a bare ma
jority.
Mora Democratic Victories—Bedford.
Pa., March 20.—At the election to day the
Democrats oarried this borough by sixty-five
majority—a gain of forty-one over last fall.
Tilusvjlle, Pa.-, Marofi 30.—At the city elec
tion held to-day in Corny aud Titusville the
Democrats elected mayors and a majority of
City councils. Harrisburg, Pa., March 20.—
The election here to-day went democratic.
The day was very stormy, and’ the vote
small.
Severe, but Perhaps Just.'—Twenty-one
divorces were granted by the Supreme
art of Verinont at its February term, in.
Windsor county. In delivering the judg
ment of tbe court in one case, Judge Bar
rett remarked :
‘My associates think, from the evidence,
a divorce ought to be granted, «nd I think
ao too, from what I know of the parlies. I
don’t think these parties ought to be yoked
up together any longer, any more than any
other cattle.”

Government eob Alaska.—The bill intro
duced in the Senate, providing a temporary
government for the Territory of Alaska, pro
vides for the appointment by the President, by
and with ths consent of the Senate, of a! gov
ernor, secretary, judge, marshals, collector of
customs, whose offices shall be kept at Sitka,
the laws of Oregon, wheu net inconsistent
with this bill, are made the laws of the Terri
tory, and the town of Sitka is granted a mu
nicipal corporation similar to that of Victoria.
The Secretary of the Treasury is authorized to
appoint, when necessary, an assessor and col
lector of internal revenue, and in th.e meantime
be indy* empower the murshal to act as sudh as
sessor, aud the collector of customs to act as
collector of internal revenue. Tfie Governor
is required to report ttt each December sq^sion
of Congress tho progress and condition tif the^
Territory. The other provisions of the bill, in
relation to the, public lands, the right otf auf-
fruge, Ac., arc similar to those made for other
’Territories, except one, which allows such for
eiga residents to vote as have declared their
intention to become citizens.
