T BE HEETINO TO-HIOHT.
So general is the interest felt in the approach
ing election by all classes of our citizens, that
it is scarcely necessary that we should remind
them of the Conaervative meeting, to be held
in Hasonic Hall to-night. The call is for ell
Conservative citizens irrespective of party or
color, for all who feel an interest in the wel
fare of our city and State, and who desire
good government, peace and order,
several speakers will address the meeting on
the questions involved in the election won to
take place, deeply affecting the interests of nil
classes of our citizens, the invitation iseapeciaf
ly extended to the colored voters of Savannah,
who desire information on these questions, and
to understand the views and aentimeaU of their
white fellow-citizens. A similar meeting was
reeently held in Macon, which wan largely at
tended by the colored men of that city, and

The following important documents from
Military Head Quarters will be read with in
terest by tbe people of Georgia, giving as
surance as they do that Gen. Meade is dis
posed to give them fair play to the approach
ing election.
Again we feel called upon to thank Geo.
Meade in the name of the good people of onr
jtate, for this interposition of his authority
to protect theta Iron threatened frauds, out
rages and disorders.
We especially invite tbe attention of our
coloted citizens to the circular letter ot Geo

all classes of .onr people are identical and
tha worst enemies of the colored men are
those, who, by misrepresentation and false
hood are endeavoring to excite their preju
dices, and to array them in an attitude of
hostility to their white follow-citizens. In
telligent colored men will need no argument
to prove that such is the truth. Let them
come than to tbe meeting to-night, aud learn
the views of the Conservatives who invite
their co-operatiou in the eneuiug election.
No class of onr citizens have a deeper for
forest in our city aud State Goverameat,
none can exert a more potent influence for
their preservation in able end honest hands,
than tho freemen of Savannah, white nnd
colored. Now is the time for them to make
their united influence felt in behalf of gaed
government, aud we hope to see a gzperej
attendance of our fire companies; at tbe
meeting to-night.
Remeubsr.—That challcngea at the polls

too late then to challenge. If yon know each
an one, black or white, who has registered, go
to the registrar and make Oath to that fact,
and have his name stricken from the iiaia. It
will be to it late when he comes to vote. Gen.
Meade has so decided. . .
