t people to the designs of tbe conspirators,
i tiith the intention of repudiating them
ibe first opportunity.
iRe history of the last seven years smells
1 ood. It is written iu devastated fields ;
c charred ruins of thousands of once
rjpy b uies : in the graves of nearly a mil-
i ot men ; in the wounds and hideous
rila-.ioos that meet us everywhere, and in
Ebluck habiliments worn even now by a
jjj army of desolate widows and
:nu3- By all means let the Republicans
Ip; as their party platform the history of
V past seven years. That history tells of
fctuiu often llonrishiug States; of the
[rami progress of a public debt which
r amounts to twenty-live hundred mil-
13 of dollars; of tax-g itherers scattered
ruli the land as thick as lice in Egypt;
Ispies and iotormers, suborners, perjurers
liillicial peculators without number ; of

of arbitrary arrests ; of violations of
Jr-aridity of the domicile ; of imprison-

lere is not a crime in the Decalogue which
Lnot perpetrated over and over again

Il t then the Republicans adopt a platform
Infully setting forth these things. There

Irposes from the beginning have been revo-

sorting to any subterfuge, or taking any

?, it the conspirators perpetuate their
la*t of power, it will be disregarded alto-

The “Sharpest and Quickest” Yet.—We
heard yesterday of a decision by which the
Democratic Senator elect from the Thirtieth
District, composed of the counties of Madi
son, Oglethorpe aod Elbert, was ousted and
his place given to his scalawag opponent,
one Jim McWhorter. For the benefit of
gentlemen engaged in similar business else
where, but who have not been iavored, like
Hulbert, with such special aptness for mani
pulating election returns to suit the wishes
of their employers, we give the modus oper
ands'.
Mattox, Democrat, from the District afore
said, was elected by asmallmHjority—twen
ty, perhaps, and so the returns sent to Hal
bert showed. His opponent failing in all
other measures to defeat the wishes of the
people, and get the seat, got a lot of negroes
to make an affidavit that they had voted for
Gordon, while intending to vote for Bnllock.
This document was laid before Halbert, and
upon its authority he throws out Mattox’s
majority and declares McWhorter elected!
Comment upon this chef d'teucre of Radical
rascality would be like gilding refined gold,
or painting the liily, and we therefore make
noue.—Journal Messenger.
Poor Carlotta’s insanity has of late assum
ed a character which has cansed her relatives
a good deal of distress. She has become ex
ceedingly talkative, and as soon as a stranger
is admitted to her, she tells some of the
scandalous stories about eminent cotempora
ries which she has heard during her life. This
has become such a mania with her that dur
ing her drives in the park she beckons to
strangers to step up to her carriage in order
to tell them the most indelicate stories about
ciowned heads, etc. Aod when any too vig
orous stbps are taken to prevent her from so
doing, she grows furious and threatens to
kill herself. Her physicians are greatly per
plexed at the frequent changes which she
undergoes, without ever holding oat any
prospects of ultimate recovery.
If you are suffering or have suffered from
involuntary discharges, what effect does it
produce upon your general health ? Do you
feel weak, debilitated, easily tired ? Does a
little extra exertion produce palpitation of
the heart? Does yonr liver, or urinary or
gans, or your kidneys, frequently get out of
order? Is your urine sometimes thick,
milky, or flocky, or is it ropy on settling ?
Or does a thick scum rise to the top ? Or is
a sediment at the bottom after it has stood
awhile ? Do you have spells of short breath
ing or dyspepeia ? Are yonr bowels consti
pated? Do you have spells of fainting or
rushes of blood lo the head ? Is your mem
ory impaired? Is your mind constantly
dwelling upon this subject? Do you feel
dull, listless, moping, tired of compan3 r , of
life ? Do you wish to be left alone, to get
away from everybody ? Does any little
thing make you start or jump ? Is your
sleep broken or restless! Is the lustre ot
your eye as brilliant? The bloom on your
cheek a9 bright ? Do yon enjoy yourself in
society as well ? Do you pursue your busi
ness with the same energy ? Do you feel as
much confidence in yourself? Are your
spirits dull and flagging, given to fits of
melancholy ? If so, do not lay it to your
liver or dyspepsia. Have you restless nights?
Your back weak, your knees weak, and have
but little appetite, and you attribute this to
dyspepsia or liver-complaint ?

will be remembered that shortly after

Specie Payment.—The New York Post*
discussing the ways and means of returning
to specie payment?, says;
It ba9 long been certain that onr currency
cannot be gradually brought to a specie value
by a mere process of continuous contraciioo.
The policy has been carried far enough by
Mr. McColloch to revral it worthles-ness,
and any further prosecution of its would on
ly cause revulsions in public confidence, and
ruinous fluctuations in all the markets, with
out contributing to the solution of the real
difficulties of the case. An essential prelimi
nary step to further contraction is modifica
tion of the legal-tender act so that gold aod
tilver can again be used as money among per
sons who desire it. The people will then
have another currency lo take the place of
greenbacks, and can afford to fund these as
fast as they please.
Now, reader, self-abuse, venereal diseases
badly cured, and sexual excesses, are all ca
pable of producing a weakness of the gen
erative organs. The organs of generation,
when in perfect health, make the man. Did
you ever think that those bold, defiant, eu
ergetic, persevering, successful business men
are always those whose generative organs
are in perfect health ? You never hear such
men complain of being melancholy, ot ner
vousness, of palpi'.alion of the heart. They
are never afraid they cannot succeed in busi
ness; they don’t become sad and discour
aged; they are always polite and pleasant in
the company of ladies, and look you and
them right in the face—none of your down
cast looks or any other meanness about
them. I do not mean those who keep the
organs inflamed by running to excess. These
will not only ruin their constitutions, but
also those they do business with or for.

How many men from badly-cured diseases,
from the effects of self-abuse and excesses,
have brought about that state of weakness
in those organs that has reduced the general
system so much as to induce almost every
other disease—idiocy, lunacy, paralysis,
spinal affections, snicide, and almost every
other form of disease which humanity is
heir to, and the real cause of the trouble
scarcely ever suspected, and have doctored
for all but the right one.
