—It must be comforting to the Radicals
to know that the price of votes at Chicago
ruled higher than at any other recent Con

—The Nashville Union says a Johnsonville
man was stung in the temple by a locust a
few days since, and his life was saved with
much difficulty.
—A Berlin newspaper (Le Nord) asserts
that the opinion widely prevails in Paris that
a war will break out in Europe before the
close of next autumn.

ukase setting free all persons of foreign
birth now exiled to Siberia, and all natives
of Russian Poland who are sentenced to less
than twenty years’ exile.
—At Athlone, Canada, the Fenian sympa
thizers are jubilant, and boast that the news
they have of the movement of the Irish lead
ers makes it certain that the invasion will
take place before the ‘20th instant.
—The Boston Convention of Medical
Superintendents of Insane Asylums adopted
a memorial to Congress, asking relief from
political disabilities for the Superintendents
of like institutions at the South.
—Zymatic or malarial diseases are on the
increase in New York city. Dnringthe week
ending June 1st, they occasioned twenty-
four and a halt per cent, of the deaths.
The filthiness of the city is one of the causes
ascribed.
—Hon. Ignatius Donnelly has commenced
a suit against E. B. Washburne and the pa
per in St. Paul which published Wasb-
burne’H letter. Donnelly lays bis damages
at $100,000.
—The Washington papers record a speech
made at the recent Sunday school celebra
tion by General Grant. The following is a
verbatim report: “The boys and girls look
well to-day. That’s a very pretty banner.”
—A new steamboat of three thousand tons
burthen was launched at Cincinnati on the
5lh. She i3 said to be the largest oratt ever
oq the Western or Southern waters. She is to
bo called Thompson Deane.
—Six hundred aod seven Masonic lodges
are represented in the Grand Lodge now in
session in New York. The receipts of the
year were $67,222 ; fifty-one new lodges re
ceived warrants, and twenty-eight dispensa
tions were issued.

Company shall have the right, with horse railv,?
