Sbe broke the lovely W,
And o'er the maattr’tofeet.
Its fragrance filling all the place,
Sbe poured the perfume aweet 1
“Now wherefore waste like tbia ?*'
Quick came the angry word I
His. who for money, with a ktM
Should yet betray his Lord.
No more the woman said
While Judas murmured there—
To the dear feet she bowed her head,
And wiped them with her hair.
••Sold! it had fed the poor 1”
•‘Ob 1 man thy heart I aee i
The poor are ever at tne door
Ye nave not always Me/'
Disciple false and blind,
This la the better patt.
Who leaving all things else behind,
Hath hid Me in her heart.
This, fbr my burial done,
Shall ber memorial be,
And wheresoe'er My name la known.
Her saintly fame ahall be."
Oh 1 Master, when Thy path
Lay through this earth of ours,
Mea wounded Thee in scorn and wratb.
Men mocked Thy dying hours.
A man betrayed bis Lord,
His Lord a man denied 1
But women tears of sorrow poured,
beueath the Crucified.
Still, there are found, who scorn
The gifts thy children bring.
Whose sorded souls the incense mourn
That waves before tby King.
Not so those women felt,
In days of deepest gloom.
Who 'neath the Cross in anguish knelt,
Who earliest sought the tomb.
And she, who poured the vase
Of ointment o’er Thy feet,
The universe Is still the place.
Filled with its peifume sweet.
Be Mary’s offering mine !
Mine, her unselfish love,
Until I see Thy lace divine,
In yonder world above.
