The steamship Herman Livingston, Captain Eston,
makes her regular trip to New York on Saturday
next, aftej which she will be replaced by the steam-
ship Gen. Barnes, Capt. Morton. The Livingston
will be withdrawn for about six weeks for the pur
pose of a thorough renovation. It ia needless to say
to tbe travelling community that this line has won
golden opinions from all classes of the travelling and
■hipping community. Oapt. Baton, of the Living
ston, is all that a commander should be, and in his
officers every one recognize experience and gentle
manly courtesy. Parser Fred. Ely, with whom we
have been more intimately associated, la universally
regarded as a model Parser, and we trust tbat the
good ship will always reach port as well manned
she is at preaant. Tne Livingston leaves Saturday,
and will carry a full passenger list, including con-
ventioniats, who will return on tbe Gen. Barnes of
the game line.
The steamship Thames, Capt. Pennington, with
the liberality commensurate with the importance of
the occasion, will take members of the Dsmocratic
Convention to New York free. This steamship is
first-class in every particular, and Capt. Pennington
is one of the few men who knows how to naV^at
tbe ocean without discomfort to his passenger guests.
The Thames wi.l leave for New York on Saturday
next.
