boys were employed on Caroline Island, as stated by
themselves, and for the next thirty days they will be
employed on Duffle etreet drain, to the drain upon
the treasury of forty cents per diem.

This Court met yesterday to hear the concluding
argument In the matter of the estate of Jas.T.Fst
terson—an application of the creditors of the estate
to show causa why the Executrix should not give
bond for the security of the estate, the creditors ai_
legtng that the eald Executrix has removed property
of the estate.
On Monday last Major Lloyd, counsel for Mrs. Paf
terson, filed an answer, stating that the lumber
which was about to be removed was under contract

There has been some Inquiry, and sales Amounting to
357 bales have been effected. Generally speaking,
holders will not sell at such prices that buyers see a
profit in.. Holders prefer to hold for afew days, be
ing confident that prices most advance on this side.
Liverpool reports a ( decline of Hi, with ah easier

market, but at the same time Sew York reports an
advancing market, with fair sale* at 31M032. This
shows conclusively that Sew York has esUbllshed a
market of Its. own, Independent of Liverpool. We
are at a loss for a reason why New York should be so
far ahead of LlverpooL If we Upe’figures aa a crite
rion, we will find that 13>*d will barely pay for ship-
menu from this side. This leaves (If quotations are
correct) 2d difference between the two markets

Presentation of a Medal to a
Old Fibxmah.—At the regular meeting of the
Oermaoia Steam Fire Company, held on Monday
night last, after the"business was over, a gold medal
was presented In behalf of the Company to First Aa

presented the medal, which was received by Ex-Fore

The medal Is about tbe size of a five dollar gold
