From o7dsJmtocket;s atrand.
From La»» Ontario's lountaius,
aSl^flnron’s golden sand;
From old Wisoousin river
A nd tamed Iowa’s plains,
are coming to deliver
This State to negro chains.
We love the spicy breezes
That blow from Alric’a shore,
A scent that so well plea&ee.
Who would not thirat for more.
Thick lips and coal black laces,
The gifts of God are shown,
We'll take these dusky races
And mingle with oar own.
Should we, whose souls are lighted
With wisdom from on high,
Wait still to be Invited
Before we hither nie ?
When offices are waiting.
And plunder is to reap,
Not at the present stating.
When carpet-bags are cheap.

Is the moat remarkable and exciting story of the kind
that ever appeared, and Is the Fountain-head from
which myriads of Indian Tales have been derived.
Some of the characters are nneqaalled in the whole
range of Fiction for a certain kind of weird, myste
rious interest that hangs around them. For instance,
the terrible Jibbenainosay, the “Spirit that walks,**
Bloody Nathan, the “Man of Peace,** and Roaring
Ralph Siackpolc, the “Bampine 03ger of the Rolling
Fork,** who was equally at home whether stealing
Red men’s scalps or a pole face’s hoise. The desire
to read a story of such intense Interest, of ooorse.
will be universal, and we trust that oar friends will
order the paper of their newsdealers In season, to
nreveut disappointment.
