They gathered there, the mighty crowd,
To gaze upon the patriot dead;'
Each Head uncovered, silent-bowed
To the invisible power dread n ..,
Thtt from their midst had orice removed,
The chieftain, friend and brother loved!
And all alike their reverence gave
A tribute just to honored worth;
Each heart was humbled id the grave
With his that had rnturnod^to earth.
They gathered there, this squadron old,
Scarce two score of that valiant band
That once wore led by Morgan tfold,
Now lifeless laid by death's grim hand;
Tlio’ dead, imperishable his name,
'A* any on the roil of fame. ‘
Those noble few again had met, '* u .
Alas, to mourn their chieftain slain,
And-o'er his ashes to regret ~
Those scenes of strife oh hill And plain.

They gathered them, earth’s, angels pure,/ r
With-hearts of sympathy and woe, * -
In life their'zeal bid him endnre,
“Tri death their tears in sorrow flow;
Flowed from the fount of sadness deep.
That Morgan slept big h»tagag;sleep;
And as they mingle with the few
-SUB left of that old squadron brave, -
Their presence seems the path to strew.
With evergreens round Morgan’s grave.
