I' Bradley stated that the meeting was called to bear
the minority report from the Blackshcsr Convention,-

The rest of the speech was rambling and incohe

used when touching upon the‘ main points of his
■ ;An: regard to ’csVpsf baggers and scalawags, for
whom Bradley has taken a considerable disgust, he
said that they had come down here from the lowest
slums of the North, had cajoled the negroes and got
ten their votes, and then betrayed them; that even
those who had gotten Into office Bad tnrned Demo
crats. He advised bis beareiw never to trust them
again, especially when voting for .Iocol officers and
members of the Legislature; did not think It was sd-
vistble to vote for mnlattoes even, as the mean white
blood might probably assume mastery over the col-
ored blood, and then they would bo as mean as the
whites.
In speaking of the reoent action of the Georgia
Legislature in expelling the negro members, he as
serted that It was a '-good thing*’ for the Radical
party, and had gained for Grant the States of Ohio,
Pennsylvania and New York. He (the speaker) at
drat feared that the negro members, becoming in-
ecased at,this gross outrage being heaped upon Ibem,
would draw their revolvers and assert their rights in
blood; but he was gratified that they had quietly re
tired. Had they donb as be feared,'.’the‘Democratic,
cause would have been helped.
The coming Presidential election was alluded to and
passed over very quickly. He thought that the
negro race would be saved by the election of Grant
in November; but whichever way the election went
there wonld be difficulty.
Ho claimed that tbe negroes had aa much right to
hold office as the whites, and loudly asserted that if
they were not allowed to hold office tbe State wonld

was; said about the Yankee** meanness, and tbe
race generally was almost as mean as the-representa-
tlves of it here, viz: Ollft, Blce. Seoley, and
Belber, .than whom there were none meaner.
Bradley spoke about two hours and a half; his
speech being of sa’most rambling and contradictory
character, leaving most of the negro portion of tbe
aodieiice. who oheered, laughed or wept at liie nod or

Arrival of the America.—The steamship
America,; Captain Billups, from Baltimore, arrived
at her wharf about ten o'clock hist evening with a
fall freight. For full files of late Baltimore papers

The Murdkr of Charles P. Wilson.—
We learned from Mayor Anderson last night that
theije were not, np to fi o'clock p. m., ady new devel
opments in regard to the recent' brutal 4 murder, and
that there had been no confessions.. The same re
ports about confessions, Ac., which have been afloat
since Wednesday last, were still afloat yesterday.
Death of an Old Pilot.—From a private
dispatch received in this city last evening, we learn
that Emanuel Joseph, one of our oldest and most ex
perienced bar Pilots, who left, here on tbe steamer
Christiana for Charleston, on Saturday evening last,
came to bis death on Sunday night by foiling down
the companion way of the Christiana, the fall break
ing bis neck. His remains will arrive by that steam
er to-day. As will be seen by the notice in another
column, his funeral will take place at four o'clock.
Coming Odt.—Adams, the originator of
tbe present system of expressage, is still living, and
he should rank with Morse and the other great pro
gressive minds of this century. It is not quite a
quarter pf a century since he started his express, car
rying his entire freight in that now very unpopular
article, a carpet-bag. He is now a wealthy man* and
the system which he inangnraced spread over
the length and breadth of the land.
Tbe Southern Express Company, the southern con*
nection of the Adams, is noted for its splendid horsep,
its strong and handsome wagons. Us tidy, comfortable
offices, and its gentlemanly agent*, clerks, messen
gers and other empleyees. The office in this city is
no exception to the rale, and our neighbor, Mr.
E. P. Tunison, tbe efficient vgent, is making every
preparation for the "good time coming.” Two of
the wagons which are familiar to all onr citizens have
been laid up lor some weeks, undergoing repairs,
and yesterday they were^ turned out the warehouse,
looking as good as new. We hope they will always
have full loads.

What is the Matter with You?
This is the question put to every invalid.
In many cases the number is, “I don’t know exactly,
