It is pleasnnt to witness the able manner in

OBITUARY
COMMUNICATED.
Died, at her residence in South Carolina, on the four
teenth of July last, Mrs. MARY ANN LAWTON,
daughter of Mm. Sarah King of Clark county, aged
twenty seven years. A husband and five lovely child
ren have been suddenly overwhelmed in grief by this
afflictive dispensation. In the death of this amiable
lady, all those tender relations of which the was the
fond and interesting centre, has sustained a shock that
will be long felt and remembered with bitter feelings of
anguish. The husband, child, servant and neighbor
may minglo their regrets in one common current of af
fectionate Borrow over their toss, for to each, it has
been a stroke of no common calamity. To her aged
and pious mother and other near relatione, who were
far distant from thie melancholy scene, the event has
conveyed the most severe and painful trial, for it js the
repetition of a suffering, altogether identical with one,
through which they have justanrely passed. But to them
and to all her numerous relatives and friends, it is a
consolation nf the most solacing character, that she
met and conquered the king of terrors with the Chris
tian’s armour. In the face of death she felt and ex
pressed an increasing confidence in the arm of her
Saviour, and with that prop, (he fearlessly entered the
struggle, and passed it in the triumph of victory. To
the Christian every such death is the glad tidtnga of
success, and but adds Fresh vigour to his own warfare.
It quickens bis courage, animates his zeal, and holda
out tho pleasing assurance, that to those who perse
vere to the end, such will be the happy iasge of that
last dread conflict, which await* a world wrapt in a fa
tal because a false security.
