6/ 7 Ike Below we give a table shewing the official vote in ninety-seven eowntiee in this State. It will be seen that the Southern Rights Pieree Ticket received 32,407, the Union Pierce ticket 6,773, the Scott ticket 16,089, the Independent whig ticket 6,225, making in all bat 00,696 votes, which is 38,347 less than the vote east for Governor last year in ' Georgia. The unprecedented smallness of the vote in this important election was caused principally from the ascertained and known ' opinion of a large number of the voters be ing in favor of the election of Gen’l Pierce. We suppose that our Fire-eating brethren will admit that the Union ticket had the ef fect of bringing several thousand voters to the polls, and thus increasing Pierce's pop ular vote in Georgia. Tbc following is from the New York Time*: It is stated on the evening of the 28th ult., a man, whose iudeutity has not been made out, employed a hackman at the Park to take him to the Fulton Ferry. On their way down, the person stopped the liack- man at the Herald office, and asked him to deliver a package. The hackman did as lie was requested, and left in the Herald office, a small round box. The box was subse quently handed to Mr Dennett, the editor ol the Herald. It was, as is said, marked as follows : •< Native silver and copper ore from the Cuba mountains, with letter inside the box.
