and 1 have hail as good a chance to
do so as those who have gone, but
being in bebt to some cf my good
white friends,I thought it would be¬
hest for me to stay and try to pay
my honest debts. I hope no one
whom I owe will get uneasy aud
think that I don’t intend to pay.
There is not a single debt that I owe
but what my whole aim is to pay as
soon as I can. It is a common thing
that men get uneasy before they ate
hurt. I have a family of seven to
support,it being a hard time with me,
I have been unable to pay what I
owe. It is a matter of impossibility
for me or any other pe rson to pay
money when they have not got it.
Some men say you surely could have
got that little by this time? Well
it does look so, and looks to me like
all men might be rich alike, but they
are not. By being careless with my
business sometime ago 1 got behind
which caused me to owe these little
divers sums, but I will pay them off
at as early a day as j>oi*siblc. I
have devoted much time to election
