The attendance this term of the
court lias been lighter than at any
time within the last 15 years. With
in the same the bai lus no< been so
dimly attended at any time.
A great many eiders were taken,
flaims, illegalities, etc. disposed of
that have escaped our memory. The
term wns a very busy one,and passed
< ff pleasantly to the court, attor¬
neys, officers and jurymen.
The fulling off in the criminal
calendar is due m part we think to
prohibition.
The court adjourned hit* on
Tuesday night, and Judge Hutchins
took the train at M,rfcin on his way
hone.
The. Judge is nqt demonstrative,
lie resorts no cheap clap trap for
the purpose of gaining the applause
of the multitude, he practices no
devices to mislead the people, and
induce them to belieye that lie is
rusbiag business iinough, when the
contrary is the truth. He never
theless dispatches business as rapidly
it can be j done consistent with the
best interest of the country,, ad¬
ministers justice impartially and pre¬
sides with ability not surpassed by
a ny Judge on the Gtoigia tenth
The term was remarkable on ac
count of the small attendance of
lawyers and spectators and the
smoothness with which the business
o 1 the court was dispatched.
There were nine true bills found
against persons for iilega'- voting,
and eight hills for other offenses to
wit: Gne for larceny from the
house, one for burglary, two for
carrying concealed pistols, two for
opprobrious words, one for
ing stolen gtods and one for false
swearing.
