morning from the following text
Now the serpent was more
subtile than any lieast of the Held
which the Low God had mad ■, and
he said unto the woman. Yep, hath
God said, yc shall not eat of every
tree of the garden? And the woman
■aid unto the serpent, we may eat of
the frmt of the trees of the garden;
but of the fruit of the tree in the
midst of the garden, God hath said*
shall not eat of neither
ye touch it, lest yc die; and the
pent arid unto the woman, ve shall
not sue ly die, for God doth know,
that in the day ye eat thereof, then
your eyes shall be opened, and ve
shall be as gods, knowing good and
evil. Genesis 3rd chapter 1st to 5th
verses.
Mr Cartledge said: The garden
of Eden was located somewhere inthe
East, and this we know because God
s»idso. The location of the garden,
however, has nothing to do with
what occurred in it. When
garden was ready for the abode
man and Adam was created and
put in it, God looked down and in
His great mind saw that it was not
good for him to be alone, and that!
the worl- was incomplete. He
caused a „ deep a sleep i , to fall „ upon
Adam fc
aud took from his side a rib
and from it formed Eve.
Adam and Eve were put in the
garden to drees and keep it, and
everything was there which was nee
essary to to their happiness. God
gave them pennission to eat from
every tree save one. They could
pluck and eat rich and purple and
fruit at will, A mighty or¬
deal lay just before them; in Adam
tbe race was to stand or fall, as in
Christ we must all stand or fall now

to tempt man. But always comes
In some pleasing guise.
Adam and Eve were driven
away from Eden, then commenced
a deluge of sm that has caused all
the sorrow, pain and woe of this
world and of the next. Satan never
tells his real object; he comes with a
lie on his tongue and offets pleasure
or profit in some way. He always
denies the punishment, and men do
sometimes escape in this world, but
there is no escape in the world to
come He will attack us at all times,

wicked people and look to God who
gave us breath. We can never go
to God for help and fail; never go
to him in prayer and fail to net aa
