Hill and Felton, We do really think that the people of Chcrok°e county are under obligations to these two distinguished gentlemen for the interest they have taken in t!io<e enterpris e's which, if sucoesslul, will increase, in a short time, the taxable property of the conn- ! tv at least two-fold. We refer to the .Mari etta and Murphy Railroad, and the naviga tion of the Etowah river. They have each taken stock in the railroad, and are doing all they can to have it completed ; and the navigation of our river is a pet scheme of Dr. Felton. What Georgian is not proud of such representatives in Congress? —c M. S. Pad* n. - We intended to notice last week the with drawal of Mr. Paden from the nee for rep resentative, but failed to do so for the want I of fip-tce. We take this occasion to say ) Ilia* Mr. Paden has many warm friends in 1 the county, who would have supported him gladly, and who regret that he thought it best to retire from the unpleisrint contest. The time will soon come we fear, when men of modesty and sensibili'y like Mr- Paden. Will be hard to indue to either seek ox to accept office. He is a good man and a useful citizen, and we thick his repug nance to politic.J strife is an cvi fence of lioth good sense and good taste.
