CHEROKEE COUNTY IS READY TO AID THEM. •At a meeting of the citizens of Canton, In Id on Hi- 20th inst., to take into consid eration the suffering of the ciiiz-nsol Sav-.n juih, 11. W. Newman was called to the c iair, and J. W. Hudson requested to act as secretary. Dr. -I- M. Turk offered the following preamble and resolution-, which wen- unanimously adopted: Whereas the city of Savannah is now suffering from th.it terrible dmase, yellow fever, and where is, th-- indigent oi licit city are suffering for want of food, and the benevolent societies arc calling for aid, be it Resolved, That the ch t inn ar. of this meet ing appoint five of our most energetic citi zens, to canvass the town and county t r supplies, to be forwarded to J. F. Wheat on, chair nan ot the Benevolent Associa tion of Savanna’i.
