SCHLEY COUNTY NEWS.
G. T. WALKER, - - - - Editor.
PHHTCIPLE3 BEFORE MEN.
Ellaville. Qa., January 4th, 1383.
How many have dated their letters
1882 instead 1883?
. Now we are prepared to keep a reg
ister of the names of all of you who
swear off from liquor and county pol
itics.
We offer our congratulations to
those who are elected our county offi
cials and our condolence to those who
were defeated.
- - ■■ • -
Ed. B. Honady, late of Atlanta, has
been spending Christmas holiday’s
among his home folks.
In regard to this county campaign
the aspirants have had to do the most
of their own electioneering, and there
has been less whisky used than here
tofore on similar occasions.
We hear of potatoes rotting in all
directions. Do not let them rot; but
keep feeding them to your hogs and
cows.
We fear that our farmers arc not
sowing as many oats as they did last
winter, much less as many as they
should sow.
There has been but little wheat
sown in Schlqy county this winter.
Our people have really had but lit
tle Christmas; but they have seemed
to enjoy that little much more than
common.
If you want to forget your defeat
in the recent election or all of your
last year’s trouble, and would like to
love your family and friends better,
go to J. G. Edmunson’s, on Colton
Avenue and take a drink of ‘‘Royal
Highland Scotch Irish whisky” which
is superior to any thing else of the
kind you ever drank.
Ix is hard if it is fair, that the
Weekly Republican that is placed
in the Americus post-office every Fri
day morning, sometimes does not
reach the Ellaville post-office, which
is only fourteen miles, until Monday
morning. The officials of the county
often receive business communica
tions that require instant attention
and through this mail route it requires
almost a week to come into and return
out of the county.
Dr. Pierce’s “Pleasant Purgative
Pellets” are sugar-coated and inclosed
in glass bottles, their virtues being
thereby preserved unimpaired for any
length of time, in any climate, so that
they are always fresh and reliable.
No cheap wooden or pasteboard boxes.

WOMAN.
Hope for Suffering Woman-Some
tliing New Under the Sun.
By reason of her peculiar relations, and
her peculiar ailments, woman has been com
pelled to suffer, not only her own ills, but
those arising from the want of knowledge,
or of consideration on the part of those with
whom she stands connected in the social
organization. The frequent and distressing
irregularities peculiar to her sex have thus
been aggravated to a degree which no lan
guage can express. In the mansions of the
rich and the hovel of the poor alike, woman
has been the patient victim of ills unknown
to man, and which none but she could en
dure—and without a remedy. But now the
hour ot her redemption has come. She need
not suffer longer, when she can find relief
in Dr. J. Bradfields Female Regulator,
“Woman’s Best Friend.” Prepared by Dr
J. Bradfield, Atlanta, Ga. Price, trial size.
