Ellaville High School!
The exercises of the second term of
this school will be commenced Au
gust 6th, and continue four months.
Conditions as heforestated. Regular
attendance solicited. For further par
ticulars see or address,
B. H. WILKINSON,
Principal.
THE RIGHTS OF WOTIEN.
The right to watch while others sleep,
The right o’er others’ woes to weep,
The right to succor in distress,
The right when others curse to bless,
The right to love when others scorn,
The right to comfort all who mourn,
The right to shed new joy on earth,
The right to feel the soul’s high worth,
The right to lead the soul to God
Along the path the Saviour trod;
Such woman’s rights God will bless
And crown her companion with success.
The protracted meeting at County
Line church last week was quite in
teresting.
Be careful what you eat and drink
this warm weather, or your medical
bill will be larger than your purse.
Our public roads are needing work
badly which they will probably re
ceive between cotton picking and fod
der pulling times.
A western Schley lady has made
application to get the yankees to
come and guard the cows out of her
corn field. They are mighty handy.
We have assurance that the Amer
icus merchants, with whom our peo
ple trade, will furnish the La Crosse
Academy with a bell. More anon.
The annual fish at the camp-ground
was well attended last Wednesday.
Many of the gentlemen went early in
the morning and caught fish enough
to supply the demand.
The picnic at Cordell’s bridge last
Saturday was a little slim in attend
ance owing to other picnics around;
but those who attended had quite a
good time especially the school teach
ers.
We hear complaints from many
farmers that their corn is recently be
ing badly eaten by weavils. We hear
of many who have old corn on hand
for sale at fifty cents per bushel.
Printer’s Ink.— A notice through
this department that the trustees were
ready to employ a principal for the
La Crosse Academy brought forward
scores of applicants from all sections.
Schley’s criminals are at the mercy
of the criminals themselves, and it
might be the best for our county guar
dians to build a suitable prison for
safe confinement. Let us hear from
any.
Hog cholera is prevailing through
out Schley county. We know of no
cure, but as a preventative, salt and
ashes in the trough, and feed con
stantly on collards is highly recom
mended.
Workmen are fast at work on the
La Crosse Academy. Prof. John T.
Brown, of Colodon, Monroe county,
has been elected Principal, and will
initiate the new building August the
sixth.
The corn crop is damaged one-third
by the drouth. The cotton crop that
was already late, is being placed still
later for want of rain, and the pros
pects now are quite gloomy, in fact,
all crops are being greatly injured,
and the prospects are not any better
yet for rain.
Raising mules and horses seem to
be attracting the attention of some of
our farmers. A good idea when well
considered. A small outlay in pre
paration will pay a larger interest in
mule and horse raising than all of the
cotton and “truck.” We have better
facilities for such an enterprise here
than they have in Kentucky.
Died.—At the residence ofhis aunt,
Mrs. Sarah Hornady, on Sunday
morning the 22nd instant, of measels,
Robert P. Williamson. The deceas
ed, son of Rev. R. F. Williamson was
spending his vacation from Oxford
College at his father’s, and had gone
to visit his aunt, only a few miles dis
tant, when he was taken with mea
sels and died. He was twenty years
old and by close application was tak
ing the lead in his classes at school.
To know him, was to admire him,
and the community offer their sym
pathies to the bereaved family.

of the Skin, are the direct result of an
impure state of the blood.
To cure these diseases the blood must he

tor over forty years been recognized by emi

erful blood purifier in existence. i.t frees
the system from all foul humors, enriches
and strengthens the blood, removes all traces
of mercurial treatment, and proves itself a
complete master of all scrofulous diseases.
A Recent Cure of Scrofulous Sores.
“Some months ago I was troubled with
scrofulous sores (ulcers) on my leg 6. The
limbs were badly swollen* and inflamed, and
the sores discharged large quantities of
offensive matter. Every remedy. 1 tried
failed, until I used Aykr's sarsaparilla,
of which I Lave now taken three bottles,
with the result that the sores are healed,
and my general health greatly improved.
J. feel very grateful for the good your
medicine ’uis done me.

“ Having suffered severely for some years
with Eczema, and having fuiled to find relief
from other remedies, 1 have made use, during
the past three months, of Ayer’s Sarsapa

I consider it a magnificent remedy for all

Ayer’s Sarsaparilla
