The limited time we were permit ted to enjoy his acquaintance and friendship, was most pleasant He was correct in his dealings, kind, charitable and noble hearted. Much has beon written and saitl about the benefits accruing from membership in that grand institu tion, the Knights of Honor. Du ring this time he was confined to his bed of sickness. Alas! ho was not able to attend the meeting. Two thousand dollars would have been left his wid ow and children by the noble broth erhood if ins proposition had been in soouer. The members here all re gret the circumstance. They would gladly have paid their pro rata share. This should be a warning to all who have loved ones depending on them. The Order is here, extending au invitation' to all good and respec table men to join them. Why de lay? The order needs no encomiums at our hand3. Gapi. West couldn’t see it that much, so there was no sale. We understand the Captain stated that he did uot want to buy the road if some one else could be induced to do it; but, he would make them an offer of #30,000, and give them fifteen days to accept or reject. It seems to us really, that Atlanta is standing iu her own light in re> gard to this road. There is one thing we pesurae which may be sot down with some assurance of certainty, viz.' Cedartown will have a railroad, and that before long. It will be either built from here to Rockmart, to the Selma, Rome and Dalton, or from here to Rome uuder the old North and South charter. The latter prop osition might prove too true for At lanta’s good if she be uot on the alert. There is no decrying the richness of the territory adjacent to the line of this proposed outlet. Tho coun try is fertile, aud fhe farmers are wealthy. Tho merchants of Gedar town are doing a good business— never better. Capt. West lias his thousands invested here, and all to gether they are clamorous for an outlet, and an outlet they will have. Atlanta, by a comparatively small outlay can lay all this wealth at her own doors and thus divert it from the direction where it will inevitably go if some movement is not made and that quickly. A hint to the wise is sufficient. %3T MorclmntB, ir you want to pay cash for CROCKERY, Glassware, Lamps, Chimneys, Show Cnees, Buckets, Brooms, Tubs, Dish Pans, Dippers Milk Pans, otc., send to McBiiidk A Co., Atlanta, for prices, and you will make money. - Case McBiudr js Co. muiiufucti sellas Cheap as any manufacturer In tho country.
