4'jiti'ly Influences.
There car be no greater blessing than
to be born in the light and air of a cheer
fill, loving home. It net only insures a
happy childhood—if there is health and
a good constitution —hut it almost makes
sura a virtuous and happy manhood, and
a fresh, young heart in old age. We
think it th ! duty of every parent to try
to make their children's childhood fullof
love and ut cjtddhood's proper joyous
ness ; and wo novr see children destitute
of tfrein through tlw poverty, faulty tern
pers or wrong notions cf their parents,
without a heartache. Not that all the
appliances which wealth can buy are
to the free and happy uuiohhng of child
hood in body, mind and heart—piite
otherwise, God be thanked, but chil
dren must at least have love inside of the
house, and fresh aii and good play, and
some good companionship outside—oth
erwise young fife runs the greatest risk
in the world of WiihNing or growing
stunted, oc-sour and. wrung, or at least
permanently old and turned inward.

The twenty-third Presidential election, with
I the preparations for it, will lie memorable as
I deciding upon Grant’s aspirations for a third
term of power and plunder, and still, more as

agricultural information, for which we are Hot
able to make room in mu' daily edition. Tho
agricultural department especially is one of its
prominent features. The fashions are also reg

markets of evtry kind.
