Going to see the circus is one thing, and going to s ;e the animals is quite another and a different thing. Messrs F. M. Ayers and Thomas P. Richards expect to open up a business house in Conyers soon. We nil rejoice in Conyers on account o( the election of Uncle Samuel, But a certain young man rejoices more at tiie thought that a certain young lady is going to move back here. A I’ttle eight -year old Conyers bov says he loves to see his daddy drink, lie says it makes him interesting. A couple of individuals of the o'ack persuasion had a rough and tuoib'e set to on thejstreets ot Conyers last Monday evening, The Tilden negro was game to the Lack bone, but had rather too nnrsh “red eye” aboard. Democrats of Covingtondirected to be at their post on next Saturday at Covington, for the purpose ot selecting delegates to attend a convention in the county of Newton to nominate candi dates for county offices. We are glad to see old Newton getting on the right track. We hope she'll keep there. In union there is strength - The Covington Star publishes a short sketch of the life of Berry Phillips, the negro who is to be hung on Friday (to morrow) in that place, for the killing of a foot peddler, near Snapping Shoals, in tho year 1574. He confesses to the kill ing aud robbing of the man. The ped dler’s name was Gallaher. Berry wants his friends to take warning and not do as ’ne has done. He says he is truly sor ry that he killed the man. He hopes to meet him in Heaven, and wants all young people to meet him there. Berry is not 24 years old yet. He is cut off in the strength of his manhood, with the warm life blood coursing through nis veins. “The way of the is indeed hard.” May an allwise and meiviful God blot out the bloody record and make birn pure in the blood of the Lamb. He held the scales of justice with an even hand. Neither th State Or the'accused suffered any materia- dn.ffrge in his hands. The mareaii.iouuoauionl that Old John Robinson’s Great Menagerie, Aquarium and Circus is coming to Conyers on the first of deeembei has already created a more than ordinary excitement in family circles. With each season Mr. Robinson adds new and extraordinary wondirs to his great show, and this year lie has j reached a climax unprecedented in the I annals of the business. lie has added many thousand dollars’ worth of new attractions this season, and the entire I professiotwionceddes the fact that it ex* cels anything of the kind on the con tinent—the large collection of remark able anima s (done outnumbei ing those of the famous zoological gardens ol the European capitals. He has gendered together from every land the most won derful wild animals, also strange mon sters from the sea, and curious birds of the air. The wealthy manager has ex pended over tour hundred thousand dol lars with a lavish hand, to make lib show the greatest one on earth, and may well ieel proud of his pronounced siic success in realizing the wishes of a life., time. One secret of Mr. Robinson's great success, and a most excellent fea-j „ure of his mammoth exliibstion, is diet high moral tone and refined character of every department of the great aggrega tion, and this has wun for it the gener ous indorsement of the clergy* of sena tors, of statesmen, of heads of families and of schools. In fact , the innocent amusements enjoyed and the solid in struction gained by a visit to this grand “World’s Exposition” far exceeds that derived from reading a dozen volumes.— being living realitie* instead of dull de scriptions.
