TO BE RESTORED.

was received here to-day:

Military operations have been suspended
by Governor Ames, based, upon the jmost
full, ample and minute assnranoe of the lead
ing citizens of the State that ihere shall be
peace and a fair and free election. They
would not undertake to assure for the low
class, but they guarantee to aid foe civil offii
cers in the execution oftEeTaws. ~ The Gov-
ernor expresabdUnhSelf wholly satisfied with
the assurances -*nd benevei that they
are made in good frith, and will be carried
out to the letter. ‘ An improve feeling prev
vails, especially among the Whites, and a gen
eral desire for peace prevails among all classes
Good citizens are greatly encouraged.' '
