compost.’ W e have learned several tilings within the
last twelve months, one of which is, that litne and ashes
may be put into the eompoet with nitrogeuous matter,
not only without damago, but with great benefit. A
little ammonia may go off from the surface fit first, but
in the course of the chemical processes carried ou ia
the heap, much more is absorbed from the air and re
tained. Add the lime by all means.’ 7
