Clarke county, will be sold before the Court-
House door in the city of Athens, on the first
Tuesday in August next, between the usual
hours of sole, tne following described property
belonging to the estate of George W. Canter,
deceased: '
Two-thirds undivided interest in the
warehouse and lot on the south side of Broad
street, in Athens, opposite the store of Reaves
& Nicholson, including the storehouse on
northwest corner of said lot, now used as a tin
store by A. K. Childs &> Co.
Also, two-thirds undivided interest in the
three story brick ’ storehouse, and the lot on
which it is situated, on the corner of Thomas
and Broad streets, in the city of Athens, now
occupied by Reaves «fc Nicholson, including the
wooden storehouse ou the wooden storehouse
on the corner of Thomas and Clayton streets,
now occupied by L. Maupiu, and the storehouse
now occupied by Jacobs & Mielmcl, attached
to the main building, and two frame houses
on Thomas street, now used as shoe shops.
Two-thirds undivided iuterest in cne tract of
land in Oconee county, containing seven hun
dred aud twelve acres, more or less, being the
same whereon John B. Patman now lives, about
one mile from Watkinsville ou the Simonton’s
Bridge road. This property is well improved,
good dwelling house and outbuildings, and the
whole place iu a state of good repair ’ and culti
vation.
Also two thirds undivided interest in a tract
of land in Oglethorpe eonuty about one mile
East, of Wintervillc station on the Georgia Rail
road, known as the Chris Winter place now oc
cupied by Mort Johnson Col., containing one
hundred and twenty acres more or less, about
one naif of said land improved, the other half
original forest.

ley property. The store houso is a large two
story frame building, and constructed tor
dwelling house in connection with store. The
lot contains two acres ot land more or less, also
two thirds undivided interest in the two stoiy
frame dwelling in Cnrncsville known us the
Doctor Rodgers property, and the lot on which
it is situated containing'[about two acres mors

There seems to be a race out west

It is clear now that the democrats
will be the first in the field, and are
determined to present the silver is
sue as the controlling one in the fall
elections. It is notable, however,
that the leading republican organs < f
the west., the Cincinnati Commercial
and the Chicago Tribune, are strogly
committed to the old silver dollar,
and it is an open secret that Presi
dent Hayes is profoundly convinced
of tbe tin wisdom of paying the public
debt in a dearer cuneney than that
in which.it wnis contracted. Senator
Thurman, of Ohio, one of the most
high-minded and .conservative dem*
ocrats in the country, has come out
in a strong argument in favor of this
««old silver dollar.’’ It is as certain
as any event of the future, that* when «
congress meets, there will be scarcely y
effective opposition to silver as well
