An gEolian harp is to be placed by
George Ellwanger on his tower, near
ML Hope, at Rochester, N. Y. The
harp will be tube-shaped, seven feet
high, and with eight slots. It will
te made of imported Norway pine
and hard, curled maple, which has
been cut fortv-flve years, and so ad
justed that by a weathercock it will
be turned to expose anew slot to the
wind and give anew key at every
change of the wind.
A correspondent of the Manchester
(N. H.) Mirror asserts that the crow
is exterminating the singing birds of
New E igland. He says; “Few are
the nests that escape his vigilent
search, and fewer still the young
birds that do not go to satisfy his rs
v nous uppeiite. I have watched
and cursed them f<r years I have
seen them pounce upon the nest of
the lark and the plover; I have seen
them leaving the neM of the robin
wiih t ie young in their beaks.”
