of Taylorsville held a meeting the

citizens with a lengthy aud eloquent
spech. The subscription list was

rah for Taylorsville. They have got
the road uow. We are satisfied with
out any great to do that the road
will pass through our place, for we
hear that t;e company desires to
run it as near on an air-line as possi
ble with a view to obtaining all the
produce they can on this side of the
river, The idea now is to bring the
road from New Hope to Owen’s mill
and down Little JRaccoon creek to
JMines JasAsin’s and from there
tl r >ugU the Cunyus plantation to
BU^esi&oro.
The Croquet c'ub met at Etowah
Heights iafct Saturday evening and,
as usual, all enjoyed themselves no
little The Captain brought around
plenty of lemonade which was very
refreshing and made us all look ws
sweet and pretty as ever. We will
picnic at Saltpetre cave on Saturday
and all the nice boys and charming
young ladies are cordially invited to
attend with filled baskets. Prof.
M irsh hasn’t returned yet, but will
be there In company with Messrs.

our lovely and handsome little guano
