will probably be ready for occupancy
by Sunday next.
—Mr. Tom Rogers is building anew

—Somebody, signing himself‘Con

Marion county, nominates Judge W.
B. Butt, ns a delegate to the Consti
tutional Convention. Without call
ing in question Hie propriety of th
nomination, we will state that the
ear-marks of the communication
would seem to indicate that it is not
of Marion county parentage.
—The paucity of locals in this issue
is due to the fact that nothing has
happened, as far as we know.

This gentleman has established a
mammoth Boggy, Wagon and Har

where by proposes to furnish every
thing that a farmer needs in his line,
from a six horse wagon to a trace

Having known Mr.Hyati many years,
we cheerfully recommend him to ttu
patronage and confidence of our peo

Hon. B. H. Hill, in a special dis
patch of the 15th inst. to the Atlanta
Constitution,states that with his sense
of duty, he can make no recommend

be passed upon by the Senate. lie
also says that there can bo no reform

Pouglassville Medium : A farmer
in this county was taken ill in the
month of June, last year, alter the
crop had been planted, and there
was no one to carry on the farm but
his wife. She undertook the work, and
p owed and hoed the crop—making
seven hundred pounds of lint cotton,
thirteen wagon loads ot corn, five
hundred bundles of fodder, fifty bush
els of potatoes, and forty gallons of
sorghum. In the midst of the busy
season she bad to drive her husband
to town for medical attention, and
on her return home by accident she
was badly bruised in her hips, and
thus badly disabled, she continued
to work the farm, and remarked
that at night she was so tired out
with the labors of the day that she
could not turn herself in bed. There
were two children too be cared for
and her husband compi fcely disa
bled tor a long time and had to plow
a “jinny" to make the crop.
The LaGrange Reporter gives
some additional particulars of the
unfortunate difficulty bn ween Na
than V. Bray and IV. L>. Christian,
at White Sulphur Spring , G . It
says that they had had a previ us
difficulty, and that on Tuesday they
met near one of the springs. Chris
tian began to curse Bray and ad
vanced towards him with a drawn
knife. Bray warned him off, and
stepped backward to get out of Ids
wav, hut as he continued to advance
Bray drew his pistol and fired twice.
One ball took effect iu the left breast
near the heart, an i the second in
the right shoulder. He was instant
ly killed. An inquest was held, and
the verdict justified Bray. No at
tempt was made to airest him.
Christian is represented as being a

The Atlanta Constitution says.
“We are well satisfied that the ol

not the man the office. We want,

which we cordiadv endorse.
