ORDINANCE.
SC EMITTING THE QUESTION OF REMOVAL
OF IKE CAPITAL TO THE PEOPLE.
Tie it ordained by the people of
Georgia in Convention assembled:
Ist, That the question of the loca
tion of the cap tal of this State be
kept out of the Constitution to be
adopted by the convention.
2d. That at the first general elec
tion hereafter held for members _ of
the General Assembly every voter
may endorse on his bal ot “Atlanta”
or “Milledgaviile,” and the'one oi
these places receiving the largest
number of votes shall be the capital
of the State until changed by the
same authority, and in the same way
that may be provided for the altera
tion of the Constitution that may b<
adopted hv the convention—whether
said Constitution bo ratified or re
jec ed ; and every person entitled to
vote for members of the General As
sembly under the present Constitu
tion and laws of the State shad lie
en itltd to vote under this ordinance.
In the event of the rejection of said
Constitution, should a majority of the
votes cast be in favor of Milledge
ville, then this provision to operate
aud take effect as an amendment to
iLe present Constitution.
ORDINANCE.
SUBMITTING THE CHOICE OF HOMESTEAD TO THE
PEOPLE.
The following is the ordinance passed by
th 9 convention for the submission of the
homestead question to the people :
Be it ordained by the people of Georgia in
Convention Assembled, and it is hereby or
dained by authority of the same, Ist. That
the article adopted by this Convention on
the subject of homestead and exemptions
shall not form a part of this Constitution, ex
cept as hereinafter provided.
hd. At the e lection held for the ratification
or rejection of this Constitution, it shall be
lawful for each voter to have written or
printed on hie ballot the words “Homestead
op 1877,” or the words “Homestead op 1868.”
3d. In the event that a majority of the
ballots sj caft have endorsed upon them the
words, '• Hobjsstead of 1877,” then said article
adopted by this Convention, shall form a
part of the Constitution submitted, if the
same is ratified ; but in the evont that said
Constitution, so submitted, shall not he rati
fied, then the article on homestead and ex
emptions so adopted as aforesaid by this
convention, 9hall supercede article seventh
of the Constitution ot 1868 on the subject of
homestead and exemptions, and form a part
of that Constitution.
iLh If a majority of the ballots so cast, as
aforesaid, shah hat e endorsed upon them the
words, “Homestead of 1868,” then article
seventh of the constitution of 1868 shall
supercede the articlo on homestead and ex
emptions adopted by this convention, and
tiiad be incorporated in and form a part of
the Constitution so submitted and ratified.
