as he appeared, stopped at the gro
cery and took a drink, again mount

time drawing the jail key from his

The sheriff, alter an hour's impris
onment, was released, and severely
reprimanded by the judge. The sen
tence of Uncle Josey was never exe
cuted, as lie never troubled the court
agabi, and the judge thought it use
less to imprison him with any h >pe
of its effecting the slightest reform.
When a young man gets a cut
away coat that buttons from the
watch chain up to the shirt collar,
and can hold an inch stub of a ci
gar between his teeth and look un
concerned, lie’s entitled to quota
tion, and it’s an ungrateful public
that fails to notice him. What in
centive has a young man to effort in
