COVINGTON, GA., MARCH 11,1885.
THE INAUGURAL ADDRESS.
The inaugural address of Presi¬
dent Cleveland, delivered or. last
Wednesday, is manly, dignified, and
full of good practical sense. It is
entirely free from anything likebril
liant display, or high-sounding
phraseology’, and is strictly a sound,
sensible and etalesman-like paper.
Uttered in the candid simplicity of
an honest and patriotic spirit,it com
mends itself lo the hearty approba¬
tion of every good citizen of this
broad and wondoiful nation of ours.
It promises a fair and just construe,
lion of the constitution, an oconomi
cal and honest administration of the
government, a sound and practical
financial policy, a more watchful
guard of the public domain, a liberal
and conservative foreign policy, and
a more careful promotion of our civil
service reform. Thcso aro tbo most
prominent of the fundamental prin¬
ciples of our government, and it is to
Mr. Cleveland l he country now looks
with supremo confidence for their
properadminislralion. Jndgingfrom
the well known character of the man
for courage and stiict adherence to
truth and principle, we feel pssti'c /
that the new president will faithfully
cany out tho wise and conservative
policy as torcahadowed in his sensi¬
ble and sound inaugural address.
THE NEW CABINET.
Mr. Cleveland sent in tho names
of his cabinet officers to the senate
on Thursday, and they were all
unanimously confirmed on Friday
There was only one objection to any
of them, arid that caino from Rid
dleberger, of Virginia, who is the
creature of Little Billy Malione,—
He objected to the confirmation ot
Mr. Bayard, fof Secretary of State,
on the ground that he was opposed
to tho dynamite policy of the Irish.
The objection was so ridiculous and
absurd, that even the republicans
tuemselves were disgusted, and de¬
nounced it as unheard of.
Tho cabinet is a very able and
conservative one, and inspires confi¬
dence in the new administration.—
They’ are all representative men of
the democratic party, and enjoy the
confidence of the entire country. D
hardly scorns possible for tho new
pres dent to have selected a wiser or
an abler corps of prime ministers,
than that which ho has called around
him. They are the peers of any who
have preceded th in in their respec¬
tive departments.
The following is a list of tho cab.
inet officers:
Secretary of State—Thomas F.
Bayard, ot Delaware.
Manning, Seiro ary of New the Treasury York, — Dan el
of
Secretary of War—William C.
Einlieott, <>t Mns-nolutset's
Secretary ot the Navy—William
C. Whitney, of New York.
Secretary’ ol the Interior—L- Q.
('• Lamar, of Missis-ippi.
Postmaster General—William F
Vilas, of Wisconsin.
Attorney General—A. II.Garland,
of Arkansas.

Fish Dentistry.
Tho gist of a story told by Seth

in the following: ‘‘Glano

troubled by such bllows among
the trout in the Caledonia fish ponds,
the usual remedy is to spear and
make an end of the would.bo de

One of these quarrelsome trout

could not be drawn I cut down with
a knife, exercising as much care as
possible, so as not to injure i he fish
by handling. Tho offending fish, al¬
though apparently nono tho worse

teeth of trout aro not used for tho
mastication of food, but aro inten¬
ded to aid the fish in maintaining
hold of its prey’. Trout in ponds
and aquariums have therefore no ac¬
tual need of teeth, for the reason
that thej are net obliged to seek
their own food. The experiment 1
expected would result in tho death
of iho fish, hut 1 was happily disap¬
pointed.

Skin Diseases.
I have a little daughter seven
years old, who for tho last four
years has been afflicted with a pecu¬
liar skin eruption on the face and
one hand. I have tried seven or
eight physicians among the best in
California and in this province, but
to no purpose. The child kept
growing worse. Fortunately, I saw
a statement in a St. Paul Minn.,
paper, of a cure of a disease similar
to that of my child. It was effected
by Swift’s Specific. I secured six
bottles and commenced giving it to
my little girl. In less than one week
this terrible disease, which baffled
all the known remedirs within reach
began to disappear. She has been
taking it three months—is perfectly
well, and her skin is clear as wax.
