Recruits for the Navy.
Recruits for the United States
navy are now wanted.
A recruiting office has been open¬
ed in Atlanta, and applicants are
being examined every day.
Recruits are wanted for appren¬
tices, landsmen, yoemen, and ma¬
chinists.
A rigid physical examination of
all applicants is made, and none are
accepted but those who come up to
the exact requirements.
Applicants for apprentice must
be at least 15 years of age, and
have the consent of their parents
or guardians.
All others must be 21 years old.
The pay of all classes includes
board and clothes, and is as follows:
Apprentices, $9 per month.
Landsmen, $16 per month.
Yeomen, $16 per month.
Machinists, $40 per month.
All must know how to read and
write. Yeomen must be compe¬
tent typewriters, and machinists
must be machinists by profession.
This is a good time to join the
navy, as its strength is soon to be
greatly increased, and every one
who joins now will have a
chance for promotion.
As the pay of all classes

eludes their board and clothing, it
makes their pay very good.
There are many young men in
this section who would do well to
seek these positions, as they would
have a fine chance for promotion
very soon.
Of course the positions are not
soft snaps, by any means, but they
are no harder than many others
that do not pay so well.
We advise young men to join the i
navy.
Date of Reunion Cliac £ ' •
The date of the confederate re
union, at Dallas, Texas, has been
changed from April 29, to April
22, 1902.
The reunion will last four days
—April 22d, 23d, 24th and 25th,
1902.
It seems to us that the date i^
fixed too early, but presume the
people of Dallas know the best
I time to hold the reunion.
| Remember the date is now fixed
.<\i April 22, 1902, and will be held
at that time if it is not changed.
The Colombians are a very con¬
siderate people indeed. Why, they ,
even stopped their battle to let the 1
trains pass.
