Mr. Marcus J. Foster, of Talking Rock,

at this place, has been in Atlanta the past
week on official business.
Kvery body ia interested in the work of
clearing off the cemetery and the graves
of their deceased relatives and friends.
Mr. W. S. Coleman of the Courier has
beea elected to address the Literary Society
of the Seminary at its approaching public
debate.
Sheriff G. W. Willson, of Fanuin coun
ty, has a batch of sales for that county in
this issue. Sheriff Willson moves off with
the business of his office in an admirable
style.
We faiUd, somehow, to mention that
the railroad has established a telegraph of
fice at Talking Rock. It has been in ope
ration for some days and is a great con
venience to the road and the public.
Mr. Bud Davis of this county brought
us iu the foot of a huge owl last week.
He captured this uocturnal rambler iu his
hen house where it lias frequently made
its nightly raids. It measured 55 inches
from tip to tip and looked like the very
imp of scowliug savagry.
Mr. J. D. Watkins, who has been at'
tending lectures in the Southern Medical
College of Atlanta, returned to Ellijay
last Saturday where lie will manipulate
the pharmaceutical apparatus of Watkins
& Co’s, drugstore. Dixie is a promising
young man and will some day reflect hon
or upou the medical profession.
Rev. G. W. Griner, the popular young
pastor of the M. E. Church, South, at
this place, lias about collected the entire

good report of the pastor and stewards of
the circuit is expected at the coming

The members ot the Baptist church of

church. The work will soon begin, so
soon as the weather will permit. This
needed improvement of that chuick will
add greatly to its attractiveness and speaks
well for the members and the general pub

end.
We learn of many individuals in this
com,ty who intend raisings crop of to

foot seems to be gaining favor with the
substantial farmers of the county and we
hope to chronicle their experience as they
progress in this money-making business.

born is a worthy young man and is a North
Georgia boy. He was a college mate ot
one of the Courier editors, and we con
gratulate our young friend on his being the
fortunate appointee, as there were some 80
applicants.
Messrs. Larkin and Frauk Parks called
iu to see us Monday, and in course ot con
versation stated that they had read oui
article in last week’s Courier on tobacco
culture, and that Mr. Frank Parks and
Mr. Newton Spain would try a 5- acre
crop on it this year. They will no doubt
make a success of the crop and money at
the business, as Mr. Spain was an exten
sive tobacco raiser when in Asbville, N.
C., the home of tobacco. Such experi
enced men as he should be consulted on
its culture if you desire to come out ahead
of tobacco growers next fall.
Sometimes w.ien the compositois take
an industrious streak aud become unus
ually voracious, and persistent in their de
mauds for “copy” the editor is obliged to
sit down and write what is known in vul
gar parlance as a “fillup.” This is one of
the hardest trials to which a newspaper
w riter is su jected. Sometimes wheu he
lives iu states where prohibition has not
reard its hydra-head the editor will go
around to the corner “grocery” and get
the cork puller to turuish a fill up or two
before he begins writing the literary ne
r.vs'tv. When exchanges aie scarce aud
lh -hears are lost the fill-up becomes a

S. S. S. vs. POTASH.
I have had blood poiaon for ten year*. I know I have taken one hundred bottles of
iodide of pot.-h in that time, bnt it did me no good. La>t summer my face, neck, body
and limbs were covered with hutch, and 1 could scarcely use my arms on account of rheu
matism in my shoulders. I took 8. S. S., and it lias done me more good than all other medi
cines 1 have taken. My face, body and neck are j>crfcctly clear and clean, and my rheu
matism is entirely gone. I weighed 116 pound* when I began the medicine, and 1 now weigh
15*2 pounds. Mj first bottle helped me greatly, and gave me an appetite like a strong mao.
1 would not be without 8. 8. 8. for several times its weight in gold.
