JAsrnK.— We were revived oy a re

gives our crops a heulthy and hopeful

One of the saddest occurrences we
have evur been called upon to ebroniele
transpired lust Tuesday was a week ago.
Masters Eduie Simmons,Lester Pickett,
Sian Darnell aud Osgeod Simmons went
out to pick berries, and continued to
wander until they reached the pond at
the bead of the.race of tbe Atherton fac

Jasper. Eddie immediately went into
the water bathing, while the remainder
of tbe party did net plunge in at that
time. They sav that Eddie was sinking
under tbe water and tbey jumped in to
assist him, but be seemed to be excited,
and drowned in spite of all tbeir efforts
to rescue him. He was about 15 years
old, while the other boys we.e all young
er. It was only fortunate that none of
the other boys were not drowned in tbe
atteiqpt to rescue him. Tbe funeral
exercises were conducted by Rev. Jesse
Warlick and tbe body was interred in
the cemetery at tbis place. He was tbe
son of a widow lady, Mrs. Simmons of
tbis place, and the sympathies of tbe
whole community are with tbe unfortu
