The Columbus paper* published its suspension, on information received from Mr. Hines Dozier, a lawyer in tin* place, who informs us that the reporter* misunderstood hiut. Mr. Dottier states that it was not In* in tention to leave the impression th .i there wa* a mortgage held by Mr. Boully. or that Col. Mobley inter posed a claim, and regret* that it should be *o construed. Mr. lloully ha* never held a mortgage against the paper, and conaequeuJy could not foreclose one. The Colinnhna papers have both very kindly cor- j reeled their first statements, and we sreob iged to them for their kindness and coiirU.-y in the matter. Then the people wire independent, money was ea*v, securities good and everything prosperous. Now things are very different. Tlte farmers do- upon other sections of the coun try for everything they sc, mik ing cotton lo buy corn, meat, mules, tior.-es, sud everything they need to run a plantation. A lew dilapidated white house*, no money, no securities half-starved mules and hard-pressed fanners arc tho results. It is true the lands arc not us good now a* they were then, but it is the fault of tuba system if agriculture! that it is cot so. They cm. bo brought hack to the old Simula and, and even a higher one, by the proper application and we hope to see a change soon.
