Nursery Fob July.— The Nurse

full of good reading as usual. It is
the very thing for little folks. Among

teresting tales for the children. If
oou wish to give your child some
thing nice, address John Xi, Shorey,

HAMILTON, HARRIS CO., GA., FRIDAY, JULY 6, 1877.
St, Nicholas fob July— has just
the right kind of reading and pic
tures tor la tv summer weather. It
treats things specially belonging to
July in a capital, fully illustrated pa
per on “Gunpowder,’’ by an ex-offi
cer of theU. S. Army; a lively ac
count of how “The Peterkins Cele
brated the Foui th,’’ by Lucretia P.
Hale ; a description of “A Boy’s
Life on a Mamof war,” by a naval
officer; and an entertaining article
“George the Third,*’ by Noar Brooks.
Besides these, there are many equally
as intestiug stories by some of the
best known writers in this country,
and handsomely illustrated. There
are excellent contributions in art,
prose, and verse, breathing the hope
and smiling with the sunshine of the
season.
Portraits of Gordon and llill.
We are in receipt of two magnifi
( cent Line Engravings of the states
men whose mmie head this article.
They form pajbof a senes, embracing
the portraits of the distinguished liv
ing Southern Statesmen, which is be
ing published by a leading Southern
house. They are truthlul likenesses
—speaking images of the great origi
nals and executed in the highest style
of engraving. They aro both eplen-.
bid works of art, and destined to
take their places in the homes of our
people, beside Stuart’s Washington
and other masterpieces. The manly,
noble, generous features of onr belov
ed Cordon, stand out as if endued
• with, life. The fire of the undaunted
grey eye, the intellect of the massive
brow, the battle-scared cheex, all
show the gallant man who has lead
hfti people in war auiJ in peace, The
portrait of llill is no less a success—
true in all its details to the great
statesman but as different from that
of; Gordon as are the two men. But
every characteristic of the man is
finely expressed by the portrait of
this son of Georgia. Time forbids a
more extended notice. YVe can only
commend to our readers these pict
ures, and the enterprise, native and
homehorn, which gives them to us.
Air. James T. Gray, Atlanta, Ga., is
the General Agent and desires an
agent in every towu and county in
this State, to place the portraits be
fore the people. Apply to him for
agencies or for the portraits. Price
two dollars each.
—Messrs. Gamble & Copeland con
tinue to sell their Bulk Sides very
low for the cash. See their card in
another column and avail yourself of
an opportunity to get meat cheap.
N H. Barden keeps tine Wine and
Liquors of all kinds for medicinal
