Talbotton is locat ed on lot 266, ltiili district, formerly Mus cogee county, and was drawn by a man ramed Gilbert, who gave it to his son, tut afterwards took it away from him when it was decided to locate Talbotton on it. * There was a groat deal of excitement over the location of t e county site at the time, the other candidate for Ihe location besng Centerville, about five miles east of Tat botton, and each place run a man for the Logisla'nre.
