y//e Political Situation.
Interest in political circles here¬

office. The promotion of Mr. Walter

of postmaster at Columbus. For this
lucrative position there are said to be
many aspirants.
One bourbon journal intimates that
the prospects are good for the ap¬
pointment of Col. Joseph Ton. This
to take him out of the congressional
race, leaving the independent track
free to Albert Cox. Another says
Col Tom Wynne, the able and pop¬
ular editor of the Times is liable to be
named for the place. No one can
question his democracy, and yet he is
known to be liberal in his views. As
to the party advantage to be gained
by appointing either of these genlle
men, we cannot say, but of one thing
we are assured; the people of Col
nmbus would be well served and have
no just cause of complaint.
